DIRECTIONS:
Prior to placing in your worm bin: thoroughly wet bedding materials and allow 30 minutes for water* to soak in. Add enough water to reach the moisture level of a "wrung-out sponge." Use for starting your bin or as a light covering over food scraps to minimize pest pressure.
DIY OPTIONS FOR BEDDING (Items in bold are my favorites)
You will find what your preferred options are: what you have access to, what textures you like, and what turns into castings that you love!
WATER
* = To preserve the microbially-rich environment your worms need, use dechlorinated water. This would include distilled/filtered/rain water, unsoftened well water, or allowing chlorinated tap water to sit for ~24 hours with lid off to allow chlorine to off-gas before use.
